Description

The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the State of Qatar, the Permanent Observer Mission of the African Union to the U.N., the Delegation of the European Union to the U.N., and the U.N. Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), is convening a high-level event on the margins of the 80th Session of the U.N. General Assembly to launch its new report on the State of Social Justice in the World.

Bringing together ILO Member States, social partners, U.N. partners, and civil society – ahead of the Second World Summit for Social Development, to be held in Doha from 4 to 6 November– this event aims to generate momentum for placing social justice at the centre of the multilateral agenda in 2026 and beyond.

Participants will discuss how the report’s findings can inform policy and institutional responses to persistent inequalities, with particular attention to the role of decent work in shaping equitable and inclusive societies. The event will also provide a platform to examine the structural drivers of trust deficits within and among countries, while highlighting practical approaches to rebuilding confidence in public institutions and strengthening social dialogue.
